Tips for Wearing Invisalign Aligners
Invisalign aligners are a simple yet effective system for realigning your teeth and correcting your bite. Dr. Sanders, orthodontist in Rocklin, offers suggestions for maximizing the effectiveness of your Invisalign aligners and caring for them properly.
When you get your first set of Invisalign aligners, as well as each new set of aligners, wear them as much as you can for the first 48 hours. Wearing new aligners for an extended period of time helps the teeth acclimate to the aligners.
After the new aligners have been worn as much as possible for 48 hours, it is important to try to wear them for approximately 22 hours each day. The remaining two hours that you are not wearing the aligners are mainly taken up by eating and oral care. Wearing your aligners for a sufficient amount of time is important to ensure that the aligners can work effectively.
Apply the aligners by fitting them over your front teeth, then work progressively back toward your molars. To remove the aligners, work in the opposite direction. Remove them from the molars first and work forward to your front teeth. Applying and removing the aligners in this way helps to prevent damage to the aligners and makes putting them on and taking them off easier.
