Is Invisalign Faster than Braces?
Invisalign is a modern approach to straightening teeth. It uses clear trays that push gently against teeth to guide them into the best positions. These trays, or aligners, are designed according to your needs and each stage of treatment, which allows Dr. Sanders to predict your results with a high degree of accuracy. You might even get a preview of your new smile before you begin treatment.
The treatment timeline can vary based on the extent of your orthodontic needs and your treatment goals. For most people, aligner treatment can take from 12 to 18 months. Certain minor issues can often be corrected in just 6 months using Express treatment. Compared to braces, which can take 18 to 36 months or longer, this is significantly faster.
With braces, you will also need to schedule regular adjustments, during which the archwire is tightened to ensure constant pressure against your teeth. With aligners, there is no need for adjustments. When you have finished using one set of aligners for two weeks, you will move to the next aligner, which you will wear for another two weeks. This keeps your teeth moving and maintains your progress. While you will need periodic checkups, you will not need to visit as often as you would with braces. Less chair time and less treatment time equate to a simpler experience for many patients.
