How Invisalign Works
Only a handful of people are born with naturally even teeth and straight smiles. The rest of us need to have our teeth aligned to enjoy an even, radiant smile. Fortunately, our orthodontist in Rocklin offers many options for teeth straightening, including various types of braces and Invisalign aligners.
Invisalign aligners consist of two transparent, durable plastic trays that are custom designed to correct your unique alignment problem. Every two to three weeks, Dr. Sanders will give you a new set of aligners. Each set of aligners gradually shifts the teeth closer to their final position.
Many patients prefer Invisalign aligners over other types of teeth straightening methods because they are practically unnoticeable. This is because the Invisalign system does not use wires and brackets. Instead, the aligners themselves gently reposition the teeth.
The aligners are removable, allowing you to take them out for eating. Instead of avoiding your favorite foods, such as corn on the cob or pulled pork, you can simply remove the aligners, eliminating the possibility that food will become stuck in the aligners or damage them.
In addition, because the aligners are removable, you can brush and floss your teeth just as you always have without the need for special cleaning utensils or cleaners. To clean the aligners, take them out and brush them with non-abrasive toothpaste.
