Getting Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are an aesthetic alternative to metal braces. For those who are not candidates for invisible plastic aligners, they are a great way to straighten teeth with nearly invisible brackets and comfortable wires. Dr. Sanders, our braces dentist in Rocklin, can help you decide if ceramic braces are right for you.
Getting ceramic braces is much like getting other types of braces. The process is painless. The brackets can be customized to match your teeth exactly, or they can be made using translucent ceramic. Once your teeth have been cleaned, the brackets will be applied to your top and bottom teeth using a special bonding material. The archwire, which puts pressure on your teeth to move them during treatment, is attached to each bracket. We can use a regular metal wire, which will look like you are wearing a retainer, or we can use a coated wire, which will blend more discreetly into your smile.
Once the wire has been secured to your brackets, you will be on your way to a straighter smile. Taking care of your teeth during treatment will help you get the best results. Depending on your needs, we may provide you with orthodontic wax, a special orthodontic toothbrush, floss picks or threaders and other supplies. Brush after meals to keep your teeth and brackets free of plaque and food particles. Floss daily, cleaning above and below the wire to remove all build-up in hard-to-reach areas.
You will need to return to the office periodically to have the wires adjusted, and you will also need to schedule regular dental cleanings and checkups. Call our office today to learn more about getting ceramic braces and to schedule an appointment with Dr. Sanders.
