Different Types of Braces
Many children, teens, and adults alike come through Dr. Sanders’ office for orthodontic treatments. The majority of them want their teeth to be aligned, but they are worried about how the braces will look on them. Fortunately, some patients can choose between different types of braces.
Traditional metal braces are bonded to the fronts of the teeth. The brackets of these braces can be the traditional silver metallic color, another color, or even clear. These braces work through the use of a wire that attaches the brackets to one another, gently guiding the teeth into place.
Another type of braces that work in a similar way to traditional braces are self-ligating braces, also known as Damon braces. These braces use a slide mechanism to hold the wire, and they do not require that Dr. Sanders, Rocklin orthodontist, switches out the ligatures. As a result of these differences, this type of braces usually requires fewer office visits and can be more comfortable for the patient.
Finally, Invisalign aligners are another popular method for aligning teeth and fixing problems with the bite. These aligners consist of transparent plastic trays that fit over the teeth. Every two to three weeks, the patient receives a new set of aligners until the teeth have moved into their final position. The Invisalign aligners are hard to detect and removable, making them a well-liked choice among patients.
